The LG Bridge dilemma

While other cities can build proper bus & HOV bridges or tunnels, Vancouver is reluctant to augment its narrow bridges.

Some cities can have a bridge wide enough to accomodate a train component, or at least have a train bridge or tunnel close by. Unfortunately, Vancouver has been locked into a multigenerational chokepoint planning agenda. Most real cities try to do things to improve on their bottlenecks.

The North River Tunnels connect Manhattan to New Jersey and the West. 820,000 people and 450 trains pass under the Hudson River through these 2.5 miles tunnels every day. But these tunnels were built 120 years ago and they are showing their age. Now, New York has a dangerous tunnel problem on its hands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48_FHhRQdt0 zz

Greater Vancouver Bridges

The Greater_Vancouver Region or Metro_Vancouver_Regional_District lacks an adequate amount of bridges. Unless there is a series of bus and HOV bridges, the region will be

Bike and foot bridges

Unlike the inadequate 3 lane LGB in backwards Vancouver, the 4 lane Trail+Bridge provides 2 lanes each way. Thats OK for a town, but Vancouver is suppose to be a major city.
