http://www.walshgroup.com/ourexperience/transportation/bridges/i64danielboonebridge.html
MassDOT began a project to replace the bridge with a new, twin-span network tied arch bridge. The two bridges were to be identical in design. The first bridge was constructed next to the original bridge and opened to traffic in June 2016.

"The previous bridge at this location was built in 1951 and named for the poet and abolitionist John Greenleaf Whittier. The bridge carries vehicles on I-95 north and southbound between Newburyport and Amesbury over the Merrimack River. The structure is a critical regional transportation link for people and commerce throughout the region.
The new bridge cross section includes four travel lanes and a breakdown lane in each direction." https://www.i95exitguide.com/roadnews/massachusetts-i-95-whittier-bridge-project-opening , http://www.walshgroup.com/ourexperience/transportation/bridges/whittierbridge.html ,
