Apparently there was no communication between these 2 violent men, but somehow they both became motivated to adorn the ugly beaded appearance. So while they weren't officially promoting bearded violence at the time of the crime, they did want to become associated with the ugly bearded look. Their ugly bearded image become burned into the minds of the people that have to live in the aftermath.
